尾形光琳の代表作「杜若子図屏風」の制作過程を検証する目的で描いた3連の作品のうちのひとつ。
雨華庵6世であり、師匠の故・酒井抱道先生による指導から、琳派絵画の制作における姿勢や、実技でのヒントを得て、古典の琳派作品の秘密に迫りました。その検証過程は動画に収め、公開しています。
古い技法を使って、あたらしい時代のこれからの琳派を創造していく事、という重要な命題に向かって、日々制作を進めています。
この杜若子図の研究は、ひとつの通過点といえますが、あたらしい時代の琳派として何を基軸に据えられるのか、を考える上で大変重要な作品でした。

This is one of a series of three works created for the purpose of examining the production process of Ogata Korin's masterpiece, ``The Ireses " painted on folding screens.
From the guidance of my late master Hodo Sakai, the 6th generation of Uge-an, I learned about the attitude toward doing art and practical techniques involved in creating Rinpa style paintings, and studied the secrets of classic Rinpa painting works. The verification process is captured on video and made available to the public.
I am working every day toward my own important proposition of using old techniques to create the future of Rimpa in our new era.
The study of this painting of ireses can be said to be a one of my passing point, but it was a very important work in terms of thinking about what the Rimpa school should focus on in a new era.
